Caption Text Part 3

 



Caption text is the text appears below an image. Most captions draw attention to something in the image that is not obvious, such as its relevance to the text. A caption may be a few words or several sentences. Writing good captions takes effort; along with the lead and section headings, captions are the most commonly read words in an article, so they should be succinct and informative.

Generic structure of caption

1. The title

2. The lead

3.  Section Heading

Language Features

1.  Exclamation

2. Questions

3. Adjective Phrase

4. Personal Phrase

5. Simple Present Tense

Rule of Writing a caption

1. Supply specific information (Answering 5W1H Question)

2. Use present tense on the first sentence 

3. Caption are written in a complete sentences 

4. Clearly identify the people and location in the photo

5. Identify the person from left to right

Exercise : 
Last week, I was posted this photo on my instagram. The caption is "In my opinion, independence is the freedom of the Indonesian people to get a decent life without any intimidation"
